Thrilled that the Muses Trio are playing my piece ‘Cockatoos’ in their concerts celebrating International Women’s Day.
“Lullabies for Zander” is a musical portrait for Muses pianist, Therese Milanovic’s firstborn, Zander. While some babies slumber to nursery rhymes, Zander’s dreams are coloured with sounds of exploring and rehearsing new music.
In their latest program for International Women’s Day, Muses Trio celebrate the wonder of mother earth and the power of cradle song with new music by Australians Nicole Murphy, Elena Kats-Chernin, Hilary Kleinig, and music of the past by Clara Schumann, Rebecca Clarke, and Luise Adolpha le Beau. This concert features two world premieres inspired by divine creation and lullaby, ‘Songs of Silent Earth’ by Natalie Williams, and ‘Afflatus’ by Natalie Nicolas with music inspired by landscape by Joyce Tang and Gila Carcas.
Muses Piano Trio are Christa Powell (violin), Louise King (cello) and Therese Milanovic (piano).
Muses Trio discover, perform, collaborate, commission and record outstanding musical works written by women who bring this relatively unknown yet vastly deserving collection of music to the stage and to audiences. A signature of their carefully curated public performance events is sharing anecdotes about the women composers. Inspiring, collaborating, connecting, commissioning and supporting creative women to pursue and share artistic excellence are important aspects of their research and performance collaborations. http://www.musestrio.com/
